Taxation trends in the European Union – 2010 edition

01 липня  2010 p.

How high are taxes in Europe? Are tax levels increasing or decreasing? How is the tax burden shared between labour, capital and consumption? What tax-related measures were taken by Member States in response to the global financial and economic crisis?

These and similar questions are addressed in the upcoming edition of ‘ Taxation trends in the European Union: Data for the EU Member States, Iceland and Norway’ issued by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities and the European Commission’ s Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union.

The publication compares the situation in each of the EU 27 Member States, Iceland and Norway and puts it into perspective.

It provides a rich analysis not only of tax revenue developments, but also of corporate and personal income tax rates, of average effective tax rates and of environmental tax revenues.

Moreover, the report takes stock of the tax policy measures taken by EU governments since the beginning of the financial and economic crisis up to spring 2010. A statistical annex contains the main data by country and for the EU as a whole.

Besides the full 430-page report, an A5 booklet is available, which summarises in a concise format the main results of the 2010 edition of the report, including a box synthesising and quantifying the main tax-related measures taken since the beginning of the crisis.

The report and the booklet will be available for download in PDF format at: http://ec.europa.eu/taxtrends.
