Young Europe Forum

08 липня  2010 p.

Young Europe Forum is a five day conference organized by Klub Jagielloń ski in cooperation with the Jagiellonian University, with an aim to become the basis for later broad cooperation among circles of young intellectuals from Central and Eastern European countries. Young scientists, journalists, activists and senior students from 10 countries ( Belarus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine) are invited. We are expecting the participation of about 40 people up to 35 years of age.
The goal of the conference is to create a forum for the exchange of opinions and experiences by young participants of public affairs. Issues discussed during the workshops are to constitute the basis for further analysis and comparative studies. The underlying topic of the event will be integration, however, such that does not seek only to reproduce Western patterns, but strives mostly for the creation of their own ones within common regional interests and history.
The idea of the project is to highlight the importance of the region’ s common experiences, threats and aspirations. The region shares not only history (the experience of communism and the subsequent transformation), but also present common interests, which are often different from those of Western or Eastern Europe. In this conference we aim to revise the way how international relations in this part of Europe are perceived by projecting ways of alliances based on smaller countries. We will attempt to form our own conception of such a revision, however, in order to do so, first it is crucial to know the reality of other countries, which can be achieved mainly through actual contact and debates.
