Serhiy Illich Yuriy
SERHIY YURIY has been Rector of Ternopil National Economic University since July 2002.
He is Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Full Member of Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine (since 2002), Academy of Economic Cybernetics in Ukraine (since 2003), Honoured Scientist of Ukraine (2004), Honourable Professor of International Vienna University (2006), the Chairman of the Scientific-Coordinating Council of the Western Scientific Centre of NAS of Ukraine and the MES of Ukraine in Ternopil region. He is a member of European Association of International Education.
In 2003 Serhiy Yuriy became the laureate of the S. Podolynskyy prize. In 2004 he was awarded the Order of St. Archangel Michael’s appellation for faith and loyalty of the 2nd degree, in 2005 – the breastplate “Honoured distinction of the State Tax Administration of Ukraine”. In 2005 he was awarded the Breastplate “Peter Mohyla” by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. In science he researches the problems of finances in the market relations at micro and macro levels, budget forming questions. He is the author of more than 100 scientific works, including 12 monographs and 10 textbooks.
He is a scientific supervisor of 7 defended theses for a Doctor’s degree in Economics and 24 defended theses for a Candidate’s degree in Economics.
He is the Head of the Specialized Scientific Council, speciality Finance, Money Circulation and Credit since 2002, the editor-in-chief of the journal The World of Finance, co-ordinator of scientific research work on the themes “The Development of the Main Directions of Finance Management Strategy and Tactics”, “Restructuring of Higher Education Financial Facility”, “Financial Policy in the Strategy of Social-Economic Development of Ukraine”. He was a joint co-ordinator of Joint European Project of Ternopil Academy of National Economy with universities Frankfurt am Main (Germany), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Lyons (France) within the program of European Union Committee “European Relations in the Field of Business”. He was a member of expert group in preparation of Budget Code of Ukraine. From 1999 to 2002 he was the main expert of Supreme Sertifying Commission of Ukraine in Finance, Money Circulation and Credit Sciences. He is a leading scientist and expert in finance.
