About the Department

 

 Accounting Department in Production Sector of Ternopil National Economic University was founded in 1969, that’s why it’s one of the first departments at the University. At that time it was called as "Accounting Department and Analysis". The first head of department was Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Gennady Lebedinsky.

On January 5th, 1971 the Department was divided into the Accounting Department and Department of Economic Analysis. Acting Head of the Accounting Department was appointed Candidate of  Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Anton Koval. On February 18th, 1971 the Department was headed by Doctor of  Economic Sciences, Full Professor Ivan Belebeha.

On June 3rd, 1973 was the second division of the Department, as the result the Accounting Department in Agriculture and the Accounting Department in the Industry was formed. Volodymyr Palchuk, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor had been chosen as the head of the Accounting Department in the Industry. In September 1979 the Department was headed by Doctor of  Economic Sciences, Full Professor  Michael Kuziv, and 5 years later (in September 1984) – by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Michael Pushkar, now he’s the Doctor of  Economic Sciences, Full Professor of  TNEU.

In spring 1985, was the third division of the Department. This time a group of lecturers, who taught accounting in capital construction was formed. They created a special Department called "Department of Economics, Accounting and Analysis in Construction."

At the beginning of the year 2003, the Head of Department M.S. Pushkar proposed to change the title of  Department. It was renamed to "Accounting Department and Controlling in the Industry”.

 On August 28th 2009, was the fourth reorganization of the Department by merging the Accounting Department in Investment Sector and Accounting and Controlling in the Industry. The newly formed department was called "Accounting in Production Sector”. It was led by Doctor of  Economic Sciences, Full Professor Zenoviy Zadorozhnyy. Since September 2014 the Acting Head of the Accounting Department in the Production Sector was Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Eugenia Kovalchuk, and from April 2015 this position has taken the Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Natalia Pochynok.

 Nowadays the department consists of 24 employees, among them - 23 lecturers: three Doctor of  Economic Sciences, Professors; one Candidate of Economic Sciences, Professor; 19 Candidates of Economic Sciences (including 15 Associate Professors, 2 Senior Lecturers and 2 Lecturer).


Academic Staff of the Accounting Department in Production Sector has disciplines for 1-5,5 year students in educational-qualification levels "bachelor”, "master” in specialty "Accounting and Taxes”. Also they have lectures for students of other Departments of TNEU.

The total number of subjects that are taught by lecturers of the Department is 21.

The Department trains masters of accounting and taxes, teaches them to make management decisions at different levels of companies governance.

The department has magistracy, postgraduate and doctoral studies.

Each year the Academic Staff of the Department renewed by the best post-graduates students of the Faculty of Accounting and Audit, who subsequently become members of the post-graduate studies and defend their thesis.

 Graduates of the Department work in senior positions in institutions and enterprises of different industries.

The purpose and objectives of the Department

The purpose of Accounting Department in Production Sector is to train practical professionals in accounting and taxes of highest qualification (masters, bachelors, doctors and candidates of economic sciences).

 In accordance with this purpose the Department performs the following main objectives:

provides an effective and qualitative training of students, post-graduated students and doctoral students according to their training programs;

creates conditions for publication of research works in the process of implementation of state budget and self-financing research topics, writing monographs, textbooks, scientific articles in professional journals, abstracts at the international and national scientific conferences;

consistently and purposefully conducts training of students as future leaders and experts in the field of accounting and taxes based on the best 50-years formed traditions of the Department;

creates opportunities for finding new job, provides initial support and advice to graduates on methods and organization of accounting and audit at the enterprises.

The Department maintains constant scientific relations with specialized Departments of local Universities, including Kyiv National Economic University, Kyiv National Trade and Economic University, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences, Zhytomyr State Technological University, Lviv Commercial Academy, Poltava University of Consumer Cooperation of Ukraine, Volodymyr Dahl East National University. In addition, the Academic Staff of the department closely works with scientists from Germany, Сanada, Poland, France, Belarus, Moldova, Slovakia.

Accounting Department in the Production Sector has great scientific achievements in the field of accounting, taxes economic analysis and audit, which is reflected in the results of it’s work.

 During the time of the Department existence its staff has issued almost 2,000 scientific works. Total number of printed sheets is more than 10 thousands: including more than 30 monographs, 8 books and more than 20 textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Leading scientists of the Department published monographs that are known in Ukraine and abroad. In particular:

Under the guidance of doctors, professors of the Department were trained more then 40 Candidates of Economic Sciences.

Quality and efficiency of training and employment of graduated students of the Department

Over the entire period of existence the Department prepared over 4000 professionals in accounting and auditing for various types of economic activity.

 Graduates work as accountants on enterprises, organizations and institutions of Ukraine and foreign countries, directors of audit firms and auditors, employees of State Financial Inspection and the State Fiscal Service, financiers, lecturers.

Hundreds of graduates have become famous in Ukraine and abroad. They govern large enterprises, work as deputies at different levels at the regional and district state administrations, ministries and departments.

Accounting Department in Production Sector has been a co-organizer of the II level of  Ukrainian Student Competition on specialty "Accounting and audit" for 6 years.

The Department has got branches in production, including: LLC "Transmet", LLC "Food Products", LLC "Sahara", LLC "Kronos-Ternopil", LLC "Skayfort", LLC "Stimulus" KRLP "Kremlis". Students can take practical experience, receive qualified consultations arising during the practical (seminar) classes on these branches.

  

The strategy of the Department intends at finding job for graduated students. Preference is primarily available for graduates, who have completed university with "excellent" and "good" grades,  have already received a high level of mastering computer technologies in accounting and auditing and who have already learned their legal framework.
