Department of Documentation, Information and Ukrainian Studies was established in 2005. Since 2008 it has been heading by Doctor of History, professor Oksana Homotiuk. The staff of the department includes: 4 professors, 12 associate professors, 2 senior lecturers, 1 lecturer and 1 laboratory assistant.
They prepare bachelors and masters in data and file processing and management of social and cultural spheres.
Our aim is to provide enterprises, state and private institutions with qualified specialists in data and file processing, information analytics, public relations, management of social and cultural spheres.
The main aspects of specialists’ preparation are: management of personnel, data processing, analysis of documentation systems, estimation of data sets, studying of new technologies and methods of searching, collecting and information processing. Studies combine the best Ukrainian and foreign traditions of education and agree with requirements of modern information society.
The scientific stuff of the department works with common research "Information, document and communication in globalized world”. The results of the research are shown in monographs and articles.
Department has postgraduate students in specialties: 032 – History and Archeology and 029 – Information, Library and Archival Studies. Since the time of establishing of the department 9 thesis were defended. Among them 6 thesis in History, 1 in Ukrainian language, 1 in Political Science and 1 in Pedagogic.
Chief of the department regularly organizes scientific seminars in Data and File Processing.
There are also 2 students’ research groups leading by professors of the Department – student’s research group in Ukrainian Studies (scientific supervisor of the Dr of History, prof. Oksana Homotiuk) and student’s research group in actual problems of Linguistics (scientific supervisor – Dr of philology, prof. Iryna Shkitska).
Professors and lecturers of the department work not with researches of their scientific interests only, but in other spheres. Dr of Political Science, prof. Mykola Lazarovych is an editor-in-chief of the scientific journal "The Ukrainian science”. Dr of Pedagogic Yuriy Szczerbyak deals with international cooperation.
