History. American-Ukrainian Faculty of Computer Sciences and Technologies (since 2013 – Ukrainian-American Program in Computer Sciences (UAP), since 2020 – European-American Program in Computer Sciences and Project Management (EAP)) was created in 2004 on the basis of a cooperation agreement between the Ternopil Academy of National Economy, now the West Ukrainian National University (WUNU), and the American University of Maine (UMaine) on the initiative of Professor Anatoly Sachenko and Professor George Markovsky. The latter was the first dean during 2004/05. In different years, the program was headed by Professor Anatoliy Sachenko, Associate Professor Ihor Paliy, Associate Professor Pavlo Bykovy, and since 2017 - Associate Professor Iryna Turchenko.

Features. Within the framework of the program, bachelors in the specialty 122 "Computer Science", masters in the specialty 122 "Computer Science", educational programs "Computer Science" and "Project Management", as well as doctors of philosophy.

Education is conducted in English according to curricula that are integrated with the plans of leading American and European universities.

This makes it possible for graduates who received a bachelor's degree to continue their studies not only at WUNU, but at any American or European university and obtain a master's degree, and subsequently a doctor of philosophy.

A number of former students of the program received a master's degree, and some of them received a doctor of philosophy degree at universities in the USA, Australia, Canada, Austria, Germany, and Poland: Andriy Kot, Andriy Fedorov, Vitaliy Vicentii, Ogbechie Antony, Maliki Meriam, Maksym Kovalchuk, and others.

Professors from American and European universities, fellows of the program named after Fulbright in Ukraine, participants in joint research and educational projects.

Opportunities and prospects. In order to ensure a high professional level of training of specialists and effective organization of educational and research processes, the program is oriented to the needs of leading global and domestic IT companies.

The program actively promotes and supports the academic mobility of students and teachers, the completion of final theses under the joint supervision of scientists from WUNU and European or American universities.

EAP students have the opportunity to join the IEEE student branch at WUNU, participate in international projects of the Research Institute of Intelligent Computer Systems, www.ics.wunu.edu.ua, and attend international scientific conferences, www.idaacs.net.

In the framework of active cooperation- with German universities, in particular, Berlin (HTW Berlin) and Dortmund (University of Applied Sciences and Arts), in the fields of computer science and project management, the best students have the opportunity to participate in specialized summer and winter schools, study during the semester at one of the mentioned universities or obtain a double degree at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
