Head of the Department
About the Department
The department of Specialized Computer Systems (SCS) was founded in 1996 as a unit of the Institute of Computer Information Technologies. The head of the department until its reorganization in 2000 was M.P. Karpinski.
In May 2000, it was reorganized into the graduating department in the specialty 6.091500 "Specialized computer systems” in the field 0915 "Computer engineering". Although, the name of the department has not been changed, a new team has been assembled.
It is headed by Yaroslav Nykolaychuk, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Full Member of Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, director of Carpathian State Centre of Information Tools and Technologies and the Technical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Member of the Presidium of Association "Scientists of Сiscarpathia", associate member of American Institute of IEEE, member of National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, member of Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society. He defended his candidate and doctoral theses in the V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Under shis supervision the staff have successfully defended 26 Candidate theses and 2 doctoral theses. He is the author of more than 370 scientific works, 8 monographs and 58 inventions, one of which was implemented in serial production, and earned him the honorary title "Inventor of the USSR".
The Department of Specialized Computer Systems teaches a series of fundamental and applied disciplines in: theory of digital processing of signals, theory of information sources, design and exploitation of microprocessor techniques, microcontrollers, specialized computer systems, data transfer systems using the theoretical-numerical basis, and disciplines on system programming and programming of microprocessor techniques.
The main areas of scientific research of the SCS department are:
- development of the theory of vertical information technology using the Galois theoretical-numerical basis;
- creation of distributed computer systems and networks of automated systems using the wireless optical communication channel.
Scientific achievements of the department over the last 5 years include more than 100 publications in professional editions of Ukraine and reports at scientific and practical International conferences.
The scientific student groups in different areas of research in the field of information technologies are functioning at the department. Students of these groups actively take part in scientific conferences. They are nominees of All-Ukrainian competitions of inventors among students and championships in the field of information technologies.
The department graduates specialists in the field "Automation and instrument-making" in the specialty "Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies".
The learning process at the department is provided by 10 people, including:
1 Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor;
4 Candidates of Technical Sciences, Associate Professors;
3 Candidates of Technical Sciences;
2 post-graduate students.
